Hey guys, how's it going? Me? So-and-so. School is crap, my internet doesn't work anymore (writing from the library right now), videogames and so on. Anyway, I'm sort of having another one of my illfortuned plans again, and I wanted to see if anybody thinks it would be a good idea:

Pulp-style Roleplaying set in WW2 using Spirit Of The Century rules and played
through MSN Messenger.

Why Pulp-style? Because pulp adventure is awesome, that's why. Think fast-paced adventure stories with hardboiled heroes and purely evil villains and you're on the right track.

Why roleplaying? Because I'm a huge dork who enjoys that kind of thing, but is also too ronery to find a group of his own. So I'd like to try my hand at more organised gamemastering over the internet. If I'm going to waste time in front of the computer, I might as well do something creative.

Why WW2 and not the usual pulp-era? Because while the 1920's and 30's were cool and all, heroes like Indiana Jones, The Rocketeer and Lobster Johnson has made it feel like something is missing if there's no nazis to beat up. That and I have an unhealthy interest in Golden Age superheroes and the various bizarre secret projects both the axis and the allies had during the war.

Why Spirit of the Century? Because it looks like a fun rule system that's made for both pulp adventure and "pick-up-and-play" style games that won't need a lot of preparation from the players. Plus it's freeware as a downloadable PDF, which helps. The players won't need to read the whole book, though.

Why MSN Messenger? Because I've tried a lot of other chats and forums and stuff and none of them really worked that well for rpgs, so I'll try this instead. It also means I can use pictures and stuff as props, and keep track on the players.

So there you have it folks, my latest project. I'd like to know what you guys think of it, but also if there's anybody who's interested in trying this. All you would need is some six-sided dice (and if you don't have, there's plenty of internet "dice simulators"), a bit of free time and a bit of imagination. I also encourage questions and suggestions if you have any. Gotta go now though, time's up at the computer I'm using. See ya.

Thank you kindly, I'm very much looking forward to it. Thanks for the watch as well.

Not sure if you need it or not, but this is pretty much the griffin design I had in mind. More or less, the "real" griffins in Podsol are more reptilian and only four limbs, not six, but real-life heraldy always played loose with biological accuracy too. Even if you don't use this stock (if you have a better idea, I encourage you to do it your way instead.) the rest of that site has some useful "clip-art" and letters and stuff.

I could have used this last night! What I will probably do is an ornate version, like a metal crest on a gate, and then a simple version, like something you would find on a letter.
